These are the rules for using CraftedTracker. We wrote them in plain English on purpose. If something here doesn't make sense, email us and we'll explain it — that's a better outcome for both of us than you agreeing to something you didn't follow.
By making an account or using CraftedTracker, you're agreeing to these terms.
CraftedTracker is a web app at craftedtracker.app that helps you keep track of your tools and other possessions. You give each item a record, and you can attach an NFC tag or a QR code to the physical item so a tap or a scan pulls that record up. It installs to your phone like an app (it's a PWA — a website that can live on your home screen), but it runs in your browser.
CraftedTracker is an independent, owner-run business — built, run, and answered by Jennifer, a sole proprietor based in California, USA. "We," "us," and "our" in this document mean her. That's on purpose: when you email support, the person who reads it is the person who built the app.
Support and legal contact: support@craftedtracker.app
We also run a related product called CraftedLink (craftedlink.app). It's a separate service with its own separate terms. See section 6.
Beta. CraftedTracker is in beta right now. Beta means what it sounds like: the app is live and real, we use it ourselves, but features change, things occasionally break, and you should not treat CraftedTracker as the only copy of information you can't afford to lose. Export your data (it's free — see section 3) if it matters to you.
Signing up. You need an email address. That's the only thing we require. We ask for a shop name and other details only where they actually do something in the app — we're deliberately stingy about what we collect.
Invite codes. During beta, accounts are created with an invite code. Invite codes are for the person we sent them to. Don't post them publicly or resell them.
You're responsible for your account. Keep your password to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you. If you think someone else got in, email support@craftedtracker.app and we'll help you lock it down.
Age. You must be 18 or older to hold an account. CraftedTracker is not designed for or directed at children.
One human, one account. Accounts are for an individual person or a single shop. You may not share one login across a team as a way of avoiding paying for the tool — though honestly, if you have a real multi-user need, email us and let's talk. We'd rather build the feature than police you.
Deleting your account. There is no self-serve delete-account button yet. We're not going to pretend otherwise. To delete your account and your data, write to support@craftedtracker.app and we'll do it by hand. Export anything you want to keep first, because deletion is permanent.
You own your data. All of it. Your tool records, photos, receipts, serial numbers, manuals, timer sessions, maintenance logs, mileage entries, notes — yours. We don't claim ownership of any of it.
The license we take, and its limits. To actually run the service, we need your permission to store your content, display it back to you, resize and format your photos, and keep backups. So you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to do those things — and only those things, and only for as long as your content is in your account. If you delete something, that license ends with it. We are not taking a perpetual or irrevocable right to your photos. We don't need one.
We never sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
No ads, ever. This is a standing decision, not a phase. CraftedTracker will not show you advertising.
Export is always free. You can export your data as CSV files — inventory, time, and maintenance — at any time, on any plan, for free. Export is not a Pro feature and will never become one.
The anti-hostage rule. This is the promise we care most about:
Your data is never deleted when a trial or a subscription ends. Read access and export are never paywalled.
If your trial runs out, or you cancel, or your card fails — your records stay put. You can still open the app, read everything, and export all of it. What you lose is the ability to add beyond the free tier's limits, not the ability to reach what you already put in. We are not going to hold your own tool inventory hostage to get a subscription out of you.
Your tags and your QR codes are yours too. You can always print your own QR sheets from the app and program your own NFC tags. You are never required to buy tags or printed labels from us to use CraftedTracker.
What we can see. We can access your account data when we need to in order to run the service, fix a bug you've reported, or comply with the law. We don't read your notes for fun. How we handle your information in detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Back up what you can't lose. We take reasonable care, but we don't promise a specific backup schedule or guarantee against data loss. Use the free export. That's why it's free.
Don't use CraftedTracker to:
Lost & Found Mode. If a tool goes missing, you can switch on Lost & Found Mode for that one tool. While it's on, the tool's public page shows a message you wrote for whoever finds it, and you get an email when the tag is tapped. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what gets recorded. Three rules come with it:
We can remove content and close accounts. If content breaks these rules, we can take it down. If an account breaks these rules, we can suspend or close it — even if that account has paid. Paying for a subscription doesn't buy the right to keep prohibited content online.
If we close your account for a rules violation, we'll still give you a reasonable chance to export your data unless the law or the nature of the violation stops us.
The free tier. Free accounts get 100 tools and 20 MB of storage. No time limit, no credit card, no ads.
The trial. New accounts start on a reverse trial — meaning Pro features are switched on from day one instead of locked behind a paywall. When the trial ends, the account drops to the free tier. It does not get deleted, locked, or emptied — see the anti-hostage rule in section 3.
How long the trial lasts, and how you make it longer. Here is the whole rule:
We can change or end the earned-day program whenever we want. It's a promotion, not a permanent term of the service. If we change how days are earned or stop the program, we'll say so in the app. Days you already earned stay earned — we won't take back trial time you've already banked.
Pro. Pro costs $6 per month or $60 per year. Prices are in US dollars and don't include any taxes that may apply where you live.
The beta Founder Kit. During beta we sell a Founder Kit. Here's exactly what it gets you, and we intend to honor this:
The Founder Kit covers CraftedTracker only. It does not include CraftedLink.
CraftedLink is always a separate add-on. CraftedLink is never bundled into Pro and is never included in the Founder Kit. If you want CraftedLink, you buy CraftedLink. We're saying it twice because we don't want anyone surprised.
How you pay, today. There is no payment inside the app right now. The beta Founder Kit is sold through Etsy, and Etsy's own terms, payment processing, and refund handling apply to that purchase. We're planning to add Stripe web checkout for the public launch. When that happens, these terms will be updated to describe it before we start charging anyone through it.
Refunds. Founder Kit purchases made through Etsy are handled under the refund policy on that Etsy listing. If something goes wrong, email support@craftedtracker.app first — we'd rather sort it out directly.
Price changes. We may change standard plan prices in the future. We'll tell existing subscribers by email before a change takes effect. Founder rate holders keep the founder rate as described above.
CraftedLink is a separate product with its own separate Terms of Service, at craftedlink.app. It is not covered by this document, it is not included in CraftedTracker Pro, and it is not included in the Founder Kit.
One thing worth stating here so nobody has to guess: content that a buyer submits for a CraftedLink story page — photos, messages, audio, video links — is governed by the CraftedLink terms and the CraftedLink privacy policy, not by these terms. If you're a maker using CraftedLink tags in the things you sell, read those terms.
We may change the service. CraftedTracker is a live product in active development. Features get added, changed, and occasionally removed. We'll try to give notice for anything that meaningfully changes how you use the app, but we don't promise a fixed notice period for every change.
You can leave whenever you want. Cancel a subscription any time. Cancelling doesn't delete anything — your account drops to the free tier and your data stays where it is, readable and exportable. To delete the account entirely, write to support@craftedtracker.app (there's no button yet).
We can end an account for a violation of section 4, for non-payment on a paid plan, or if we shut the service down.
If we ever shut CraftedTracker down, we'll email account holders in advance and keep export working through the shutdown so you can get your data out. We're not going to turn off the lights without telling you.
What survives. The anti-hostage rule applies through all of this: as long as your account exists, reading and exporting your data are free.
Third parties we depend on. CraftedTracker runs on services we don't control — Supabase (database and file storage), Netlify (hosting), and Resend (email delivery). If one of them has an outage, CraftedTracker may be slow or unavailable, and we're not liable for problems caused by their systems. We also can't guarantee delivery of email we send through Resend; if you're not getting account emails, check your spam folder and then email us.
This section is the legally heavy one. We've kept the plain-English version next to the formal language rather than replacing it, because the formal words are what a court reads.
"As is." THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
In plain terms: we don't promise the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate, and we don't promise it will meet every need you have for it. It's a tool-tracking app made by one person, in beta.
Not a valuation, insurance, or legal record. CraftedTracker stores values, prices, and maintenance history because that's useful to you. It is not an appraisal, an insurance policy, a proof of ownership, or a legally certified record. Don't rely on it as the sole evidence of what you own or what it's worth. If you need that, get a real appraisal and keep your receipts somewhere else too.
Not a recovery service, and not a tracker. Lost & Found Mode does not track a tool. There is no GPS in an NFC tag and no signal coming off it. Nothing is recorded unless some person, somewhere, chooses to tap that tag with a phone — which may never happen. We make no promise, warranty, or representation that this feature will recover a tool, identify anyone, produce evidence, or support a claim of any kind. Report thefts to the police and to your insurer.
Limit of liability. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO CRAFTEDTRACKER OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).
No indirect damages. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, LOST BUSINESS, OR LOST OR CORRUPTED DATA — even if we've been told those things might happen.
Some states don't allow certain warranty disclaimers or damage limits. Where that's true, the parts that aren't allowed don't apply to you, and the rest still stands. Nothing here limits liability that legally can't be limited, including for fraud.
You cover us for what you upload and how you use the app (indemnification). You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or cost — including reasonable attorneys' fees — that comes out of (a) content you upload or store in CraftedTracker, including claims that it infringes someone's copyright or invades someone's privacy, (b) your use of the service in a way that breaks these terms or the law, or (c) your breach of section 4.
Concretely: if you set a photo you don't own the rights to as a tool's hero photo — the one picture a visitor who taps the tag can see — and the rights holder comes after us, that's on you, not on us.
Governing law and where disputes go. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in Kern County, California, and you and we both agree those courts have jurisdiction.
There is no forced arbitration in these terms, and no class-action waiver. We're choosing not to include either one. If you have a dispute with us, you keep your normal right to go to court.
Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. If we make a material change, we'll email account holders and update the "Last updated" date at the top. If you keep using CraftedTracker after a change takes effect, that's your agreement to the new version. If you don't agree, export your data and close your account.
Questions about these terms, a data export, an account deletion, or anything else:

Support is answered by the owner, so replies come from a regular email address and may take a day or two — but the person answering knows the app inside and out, because she built it.
